Excessive Sweating

(hyperhidrosis)

WE PREVENT SWEATING BY TARGETING THE SOURCE

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a condition that affects millions of people around the world. Uncontrolled sweating can occur in various part of the body including the hands, feet or underarms.

Although high temperatures or stress can increase perspiration, they don’t cause hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis may be inherited trait or physiological condition that stops the body from properly regulating its temperature.

But don’t worry excessive sweating can be managed by targeting the sweating at the source. At Courtenay Cosmetic Clinic our highly experienced nurses treat many clients with differing degrees of hyperhidrosis using BOTOX® and DYSPORT® a highly effective, quick and lasting treatment.

HOW IT WORKS

BOTOX® and DYSPORT® is a natural, purified protein that temporarily blocks the release of a chemical that signals perspiration, helping to reduce excessive sweating. The active ingredient is derived from bacteria in much the same way penicillin is derived from mould. It is manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions.

BOTOX®or DYSPORT® can be used to treat excessive underarm sweating by targeting sweating at its source. Once injected by our registered nurses, tbe BOTOX® or DYSPORT® enters the specific glands in the underarms responsible for excessive sweating. There, it blocks the release of a chemical that signals the body to produce perspiration.

BOTOX® is a prescription-only medicine and is registered for the treatment of severe axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating).

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

What does the treatment involve?

At Courtenay Cosmetic Clinic, during your free consultation our Registered Nurses will determine if BOTOX is a suitable treatment.

BOTOX® Treatment is a non-surgical procedure where a small amount of BOTOX® is administered into the skin of the armpits using a very fine needle. Generally, the procedure takes around 30 minutes. Discomfort is typically minimal and brief, and although the injection may sting for a few seconds, normal activity can be resumed soon after.

After the injection, it takes about 7 days for the BOTOX® treatment to take full effect.

How long does the treatment last?

After treatment the average person experiences about an 80 percent reduction in sweating. The effects of BOTOX® last approximately 6-7 months, however results vary from person to person.
